G2E Asia is officially back for 2022—but not in its traditional home of Macau. Instead, the renowned gaming industry expo is heading to Singapore, where it will be held at Marina Bay Sands from August 24–26.
The move comes after ongoing delays due to Macau’s adherence to China’s strict “zero COVID” policy, which continues to restrict foreign visitors.
With Macau off-limits to most international travelers, it was only fitting that another Sands-owned property—Marina Bay Sands—step in to host the premier gaming conference.
G2E Asia, which debuted in 2007, is the leading exhibition and conference dedicated to the Asian gaming market. The show had been held annually in Macau until COVID-19 forced cancellations in 2020 and 2021. During that time, digital editions and webinars took its place.
Now, with Singapore having lifted nearly all COVID-19 restrictions—except for a requirement of a negative test within 48 hours of entry—organizers are confident that the 2022 event will proceed as planned.
Marina Bay Sands, an architectural icon and one of the world’s most successful integrated resorts, offers over 1.3 million square feet of event space in its Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) facilities. Opened in 2010 at a cost of nearly $7 billion, the resort is widely regarded as the benchmark for luxury and innovation in the global IR industry.
This year’s G2E Asia marks a return to in-person networking and business, with industry leaders and stakeholders converging in Singapore—about 1,500 air miles south of Macau—for a special edition of Asia’s premier gaming event.
