Las Vegas Sands’ Texas Super PAC Armed With $9.3 Million War Chest

Las Vegas Sands is keeping its Texas casino ambitions alive — and well-funded. The company’s political arm, Texas Sands PAC, reported more than $9.3 million in cash on hand, according to its latest financial disclosure.

The Las Vegas-based gaming giant, famed for transforming the Strip with The Venetian and Palazzo, has long pursued entry into Texas’ lucrative but casino-free market. While Sands sold its Vegas resorts during the pandemic to refocus on its Asian properties — including Macau and Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands — it continues to lobby for change in the Lone Star State.

Sands’ majority shareholder, Dr. Miriam Adelson, widow of company founder Sheldon Adelson, remains the driving force behind the effort. In 2023, she and her family purchased a 73% stake in the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks from Mark Cuban, fueling speculation that a future casino resort could one day rise in North Texas. Cuban has since confirmed that vision, arguing Texas lacks major draws for tourists and conventions compared to gaming destinations like Las Vegas.

Adelson herself contributed $9.1 million to the PAC in June, while Las Vegas Sands added a modest $4,500. The PAC’s funds are used to promote the economic benefits of integrated resorts and persuade lawmakers to legalize commercial casinos. So far, those efforts have yet to yield results.

The next big test will come in November 2026, when Texas voters elect a new governor, all 150 House members, and 16 state senators — a political reshuffle that could shape the state’s gambling future.

However, Sands faces stiff resistance from the Republican Party of Texas, which remains firmly opposed to any gambling expansion. The party’s 2024 platform explicitly calls for legislators to reject casino-friendly bills and refuse donations from gaming PACs or lobbyists.

Despite the opposition, Sands is betting that political tides — and billions in potential tax revenue — will eventually turn in its favor.
